Man Found Dead in Oshkosh, WI, Self-Storage Unit After Fire

Police have identified a man whose body was found after a fire broke out Tuesday evening at an Oshkosh, Wis., self-storage facility. Frank Larsen, 49, was inside the unit he rented at AAA Mini Storage. The fire at 715-721 3rd Ave. also destroyed an adjacent unit, according to the source.

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, and no details have been released about the cause of death. Investigators are still trying to determine the source of the fire and are seeking help from the public.

“We're going to urge the citizens to contact us if they have any information about who this male might be, why he was there or if they know how this fire may have started,” said Kate Mann, an officer with the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office. “We're going to continue to investigate this, and talk with people and try to get to the bottom of all of these details.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Winnebago County Crime Stoppers at 920.231.8477. Anonymous tips can also be reported on its website.

AAA Mini Storage operates two additional locations in Oshkosh and one in Fond du Lac, Wis. The sites are managed by Gabert Properties, which also leases apartments, office and retail space.
