Investigation Underway After Fire at Chula Vista, CA, Self-Storage Facility

An investigation is underway at Storage Outlet in Chula Vista, California, to determine the cause of a fire that broke out at the self-storage facility on March 10. No injuries were reported. Video footage from news outlet OnScene TV indicated firefighters needed to access or force entry into eight units, with at least two being badly damaged, a source reported.

The blaze at 1160 3rd Ave. was reported around 1 p.m. First responders called for additional crews after combating heavy smoke and flames. It took about an hour to extinguish the inferno, according to Capt. Josh Sanders of the Chula Vista Fire Department (CVFD).

CVFD didn’t release a monetary estimate to the amount of damage or indicate how many units were impacted by the incident.

Storage Outlet operates 10 self-storage facilities in Southern California.
