An explosion at a CubeSmart self-storage facility in Wayne, N.J., last week led to a fire that engulfed part of the building. The blast at 2354 Hamburg Turnpike began just before 7 p.m. on Dec. 9. Fire crews were able to get the blaze under control, but the facility was deemed structurally unsafe, according to the source.
Power was shut down in the area and there were reports of fallen power lines. A demolition and excavation crew was called in to provide firefighters access to spots where the fire still burned.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
