Virginia Varsity to Build Self-Storage Mixed-Use Project in Roanoke, VA

Virginia Varsity Storage Inc. is taking a 2.2-acre site containing a 93,000-foot-building in Roanoke, Va., and converting it into mixed-use project that will include self-storage, office space and residential units. It’ll be the company’s sixth project in the state, according to a press release.

Once complete, the property at 1942 Franklin Road will comprise more than 100,000 rentable square feet of storage space. The office and residential components will face a sports complex and greenway system.

Headquartered in Salem, Va., Virginia Varsity Storage is a part of Virginia Varsity Transfer & Self Storage, which was founded in 1988 by John Lugar as a moving company. In addition to providing moving services, it operates five storage facilities in Christiansburg, Roanoke and Salem, Va.
