Ash Properties Inc., a development and property-management company that operates the Atlantic Self Storage brand in Florida, has opened a new facility in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The property at 2400 Palm Valley Road is in Nocatee, an unincorporated planned community in Northern St. Johns County.

The company chose the community because of its growth and to meet the demand for vehicle storage, according to Randall Whitfield, vice president of property management and development. “It’s a new and growing area,” he said. “We try to keep up with the demands of the needs of the different communities and different areas of Jacksonville, and Nocatee needed this type of facility, both for self-storage and also for the boat and RV storage.”

Although the site officially opened in November, Ash Properties is adding a few finishing touches. For example, the company recently filed a request with St. Johns County’s Growth Management Division to add wall signage. Because the sign exceeds the maximum dimensions allowed, it’ll require a variance and architectural-review approvals, said Beverly Frazier, a planner for St. Johns County Planning and Zoning. “The planning staff has always been supportive and we have had good relations there, and always will do things according to county wishes and desires,” Whitfield said.

Ash Properties is a locally owned real estate development company with more than 40 years of combined experience in the leasing, management and development of commercial, retail, storage and office properties. The Atlantic portfolio comprises 4.7 million square feet of storage space in nearly 30,000 units.
