A woman driving a stolen car inside a self-storage property in Richland, Washington, on Monday rammed the perimeter fencing in attempt to flee police. Emily Sanchez, 28, also hit an unoccupied police car, according to sources.

Police were called to the facility near Columbia Park Trail and Jericho Court at 4:42 p.m. by a witness who suspected the car might be stolen. After determining it was, responders asked Sanchez to surrender. She refused and began driving around the facility. Officers used a device called “Stop Sticks” to flatten the vehicle’s tires. Sanchez then began driving erratically and rammed the fence in several places, the sources reported.

To de-escalate the situation, police left the storage facility. Sanchez also fled the property and slammed into a police car several times. She then drove through an open field where the vehicle became stuck. When she refused to surrender, officers surrounded the vehicle and used pepper spray to remove her from the car and place her under arrest, the sources reported.

Sanchez is being held at Benton County Jail on charges of attempting to elude police, possession of a stolen vehicle, second-degree burglary and first-degree malicious mischief. She also had outstanding warrants.
