Woman Arrested for Stealing Rental Truck From Hot Springs, AR, Self-Storage Facility

A woman was arrested last weekend for allegedly breaking into a Hot Springs, Arkansas, self-storage facility in February and stealing a rental truck. The suspect also hit a storage building with the vehicle as she fled the property, according to the source.

The maintenance supervisor for Airport Road Mini Storage at 913 Airport Road called police on Feb. 21 to report the incident. The facility’s video surveillance shows the suspect forcing open the back door to the front office, which caused $200 in damage. She entered the building and grabbed the keys to a 2017 Ford U-Haul truck, valued at $30,000. As she attempted to leave the site, she allegedly struck a building on the passenger side, causing an additional $10,000 in damage. She then backed up and fled the facility, the source reported.

Though the property manager was able to identify the woman, her relationship to the facility is unclear. It’s also unknown if the vehicle was recovered. An arrest warrant was issued on Feb. 25.

Sherri Young Seger, 58, was taken into custody on July 4 after a traffic stop. The charges include theft of property over $25,000, commercial burglary and second-degree criminal mischief. Her bond was set at $11,000. She was scheduled to appear in Garland County District Court on July 6.
