Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes Into Coconut Creek, FL, Self-Storage Facility

An allegedly intoxicated driver crashed his vehicle into a building at a CubeSmart self-storage facility in Coconut Creek, Florida, on April 22. The incident at 4731 Sample Road happened just before 8 p.m., according to the source.

Moises Doria, 55, was driving his Mazda Miata when he started speeding and driving recklessly around the storage site, according to a witness. When the witness yelled at Doria to slowdown, he stopped, hollered back, then lost control and hit a building.

Doria was inspecting the damage at the front of his car when officers arrived. Because he smelled of alcohol and was stumbling, they requested that he take sobriety and breathalyzer tests. Doria refused, telling officers he drank an energy drink before visiting the facility and was taking a depressant drug for his diabetes, the source reported.

Police arrested Doria on charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving. He was taken to Broward County Jail and released on bond.

CubeSmart owns or manages 1,287 self-storage facilities across the United States. Its operating portfolio comprises 89.2 million square feet.
