New Mexico Police Arrest Self-Storage Tenant in Facility Burglaries

Police in Las Cruces, N.M., arrested a man they believe burglarized self-storage units at two facilities. The man was also a tenant at both facilities.

South Main Self Storage and Telshor Self Storage were each burglarized 36 times between Jan. 21 and March 24. Marcus A. Ortiz was captured on video surveillance using bolt cutters to cut padlocks and remove items from the units. Police suspect Ortiz had an accomplice on at least one of those occasions.

Ortiz has been charged with two counts of non-residential burglary and one count of possession of burglary tools.
