A man who was being evicted for allegedly living inside a Kona, Hawaii, self-storage unit shot and killed himself at the facility on Wednesday. His identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin, according to the source.
Police responded to My Self Storage Space at 1:45 p.m. to remove the still living tenant from the property at 73-5591 Maiau St. After officers spoke the man, he walked into his rented storage unit. Police then heard a loud noise consistent with a gunshot. They discovered the man on the ground with a traumatic head injury and a rifle next to him. The investigation is ongoing.
