Felony Suspect Barricades Himself at Sweden, NY, Self-Storage Facility

A man with a felony warrant barricaded himself inside a self-storage unit in Sweden, N.Y., for about eight hours on Friday before surrendering peacefully. Investigators were attempting to take the man into custody around 8 a.m. when he fled to Brockport Mini Storage at 1980 Transit Way, according to sources.

The suspect locked himself inside the unit, then began moving among other units in the building. The facility was closed at the time. A negotiation team persuaded the man to surrender at 4 p.m. Transit Road was closed in both directions for the duration.

The man, whose name hasn’t been released, had an outstanding warrant in Ogden, N.Y. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday evening.
