StorPlace Self-Storage Gets Approval for Mixed-Use Development in Nolensville, TN

The Nolensville, Tenn., Planning Commission this week approved the site plan for a mixed-use development that will include a StorPlace Self-Storage facility and retail space. The property at 7118 Nolensville Road, between Haley Industrial Drive and Kidd Road, will comprise more than 70,000 square feet of climate-controlled and drive-up storage units, according to the source.

The 30,000-square-foot retail structure that will sit in front of self-storage facility has already signed two tenants: Dickens Turf and Landscape Supply, which will occupy 8,640 square feet of space, and Burn Boot Camp, which will rent 5,500 square feet. NAI Nashville, the project’s leasing agent, has also received interest from other potential tenants, including several national restaurant chains, said Ed Freeman, a managing partner for StorPlace.

“This will be our most attractive development yet,” Freeman said. “It will feature a beautiful glass and brick, three-story storage building, an attractive retail center, and an outparcel.”

As part of the site-plan approval, the commissioners stipulated that Nolensville Road be widened at the property’s main access to allow for a left-hand turn lane. In addition, the building elevations must be high enough so the structures are a minimum of three feet above the 100-year flood plain, the source reported.

Expected to open in early 2019, the property will be designed by David Kidd Architects and William Johnson Architects. Harvest Construction LLC is the general contractor.

Founded in 2006 and based in Nashville, Tenn., StorPlace operates 18 facilities in Kentucky and Tennessee.
