Self-storage developer The Carroll Cos. has acquired a 1.62-acre lot in Lexington, S.C., on which it intends to build a Bee Safe Storage and Wine Cellar facility. The property at the corner of Augusta Road and Cedarcrest Drive was acquired by Carroll Capital Investments LLC from Padi Reddy for $625,000, according to the source.

Owned by Roy E. Carroll II, Bee Safe has several self-storage projects under development. The operator recently announced the creation of its own management company to handle growth.

Bee Safe facilities typically include climate control and wine storage. The company currently operates two facilities in Greensboro and one in Raleigh, N.C.

Carroll is also founder and CEO of The Carroll Cos., a real estate development firm in business for more than 30 years. The developer has built or has under construction more than 15,000 apartment homes with an asset value of more than $1.4 billion, according to its website. The company has more than $500 million invested in development projects in the Carolinas, Tennessee and Texas.
