Man Injures Foot in Pallet Accident at Indianapolis Self-Storage Facility

A worker was hospitalized this week with a serious foot injury after it was trapped under a pallet of dry goods he was trying to move into a unit at Access Self Storage in Indianapolis. Responding firefighters found the man hanging upside down but conscious when they arrived at the facility on Rockville Road.

Mike Pruitt, a spokesperson with Wayne Township Fire Department, said the worker was rolling the pallet from the inside of a semi truck onto a lift gate using a motorized pallet jack when the load shifted, knocking the man off the lift gate and trapping his left foot under the pallet. He wound up hanging upside down as a result.

Responders stabilized the load and used airbags to free the man's foot. He was taken to IU (Indiana University) Health Methodist Hospital.
