Update 11/22/16 – Big Tex Self Storage has opened its new facility in Montrose, Texas. To provide a more pedestrian-friendly area, the operator added new landscaping and sidewalks along the frontage on Richmond Avenue, according to a press release. The operator also plans to repurpose a 15-by-10-foot exterior wall facing the street into an art wall. Commissioned by local artists, it’ll be changed quarterly with new themes curated each time, the release stated.
“As a born and raised Houstonian, I can't think of a better neighborhood to grow into than Montrose. I am a supporter of its museums, my wife loves the vintage boutiques, and we regularly enjoy its incredible restaurants," said owner Bobby Grover. "We spend our time in Montrose, so it seemed to be a natural fit to open a Big Tex Storage on Richmond Avenue.”
Plans are underway to develop a third Big Tex facility at Ella and West 34th Street in Houston. Construction will begin in early 2018, according to the release.
