Simply Self Storage in Ferndale, Mich., is now a collection site for supplies for people affected by the recent tornado in Joplin, Mo.
The May 22 tornado destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses. At least 142 people were killed and more than 900 were injured.
The collection involves several businesses in the southeast Michigan area. Desired items include portable generators, heavy-duty extension chords, construction lighting, electric fans, yard and construction equipment, plastic storage containers and pet food and children's books. The supplies will be collected until June 16, and then taken via a convoy of trucks to Joplin.
