Self-Storage Operators, Charity Storage Raise More Than $111,000 in 2021

Charity Storage, a nonprofit that serves the self-storage industry, worked with facility operators last year to raise $111,671 for community organizations. Collected via approximately 500 charity auctions nationwide, the funds will benefit cancer research as well as programs working to end domestic abuse and homelessness, plus other initiatives, according to a press release.

Now in its 11th year, Charity Storage uses self-storage auctions to raise money for altruistic causes. Participating facilities establish donation drop-off centers at their sites, and engage their community to collect donations for local nonprofits through their lien sales.

“With its focus on local, operator-driven giving, Charity Storage helped facilities strengthen connections with their community and create change in their own backyard,” group officials said.

Last year also brought structural changes to the organization including new leadership and the relocation of its headquarters to Phoenix. Charity Storage is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
