SBOA and Storage Pros Management Help Children in Need Via 'Storage for a Cause'

The Storage Business Owners Alliance LLC (SBOA), a buying group for the U.S. self-storage industry, and Storage Pros Management LLC, which specializes in the acquisition, development, improvement, management and disposition of self-storage facilities, have partnered in "Storage for a Cause," an initiative to collect school supplies for underprivileged and low-income children in the Metro Detroit area. The drive is being operated in conjunction with Operation: Kid Equip of Michigan, which serves Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.

SBOA and Storage Pros are urging their customers and social media fans and friends to assist children in need by dropping off donations of school supplies at Storage Pros Self Storage facilities or sending a cash donation through www.crowdrise.com/storageforacause.

"We are pleased to be working with the SBOA and Storage Pros Management on a much needed school-supply drive. This will allow us to provide more for local kids in need, especially after the recent flood we experienced at our facility, said Josh Tokoph, director of operations for Operation: Kid Equip.

Operation: Kid Equip provides Metro Detroit's poverty-stricken students with school supplies, books, hygiene items and advocacy. The organization also partners with schools to improve reading-proficiency levels and provides books to enhance home libraries.

Founded by self-storage operators Ian Burnstein and David Levenfeld, the SBOA is a cooperative organization that enables smaller self-storage businesses to enjoy the benefits of bulk buying power. The group has grown to include more than 2,500 member facilities. Members pay an annual membership fee to save on items such as packing and moving supplies, marketing services, payroll services, UPS shipping and more.

Storage Pros owns 47 self-storage properties and manages a total of 53. The facilities are located throughout New England as well as Florida, Michigan and Tennessee. They comprise more than 3.125 million square feet of storage space and more than 27,500 storage units and parking spaces for rent.
