San Diego Self Storage is sponsoring the 18th Annual International Relief Teams (IRT) Gifts of Hope Gala on Oct. 22, at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit a special appeal during the gala earmarked, Medicines for Children, a special fund that provides medicine for underprivileged children in developing countries.
Additional proceeds will be directed toward fulfilling the mission of IRT that includes providing shelter for the homeless, medical training that saves babies lives, and transforming the well-being of those less fortunate through surgical procedures for thousands of families worldwide.
IRT helps fill the gap for those who are victims of disaster, poverty and neglect, said Tony Carr, San Diego Self Storage managing member. The company has also donated storage space to victims of wildfires and other natural disasters, and sponsored events to help it expand its philanthropic reach into global territories. I have immersed myself in hands-on relief efforts spearheaded by IRT, which includes rebuilding homes for underprivileged families during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and have witnessed their professional mobilized response coordination, Carr said. They are at the forefront of their industry as first responders and in light of a multitude of recent national disasters caused by acts of nature, we are positioned to assist now more than ever to help provide additional resources.
