Stop & Stor, which operates 15 self-storage facilities in New York, donated $264,000 to various organizations from its charitable fund over the past year. The supported causes included animal protection, the arts, education, humanitarian work and medical research, according to the source.

The company has donated more than $1.8 million to charity since it established its fund in 2002, the source reported. Stop & Stor employees also volunteer their time.

“Giving back is not only something instilled in the owners of our company, but also something shared by our staff as well,” Jeff Henick, chief operating officer, told the source. “The charitable foundation is just one example of our giving philosophy. In addition to monetary donations, our staff has participated in charitable drives and events for causes such as New Eyes for the Needy, the American Cancer Society, and the Rocco Laurie Scholarship Fund. We are proud of our commitment to the communities and the people we serve and look forward to doing so much more.”

Over the years, Stop & Stor has supported the American Museum of Natural History, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Doctors Without Borders, Girl Scouts of America, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk to benefit the American Cancer Society, Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, Wildlife Conservation Society and other organizations.

Stop & Stor was founded in 1980 by the Henick and Morty Simon families. The company operates self-storage properties in Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, N.Y.
