North Carolina Self Storage Association Launches Hardship-Relief Fund
October 18, 2024
The North Carolina Self Storage Association (NCSSA) has launched a hardship-relief fund designed to help people who own or are employed by a self-storage facility in the state. The intent is to meet the immediate needs of those who’ve been negatively affected by a disaster or health emergency, according to a press release.
The program will provide $100 to $500 to qualified applicants. It’ll be funded through donations from association members and their customers. Aid will be available for emergencies such as an illness, accident, crime or natural disaster.
To qualify for support, a person must own or be employed by a North Carolina self-storage facility. Immediate household family members are also eligible. They cannot have received funds from the program within the past 12 months. Recipients don’t need to be association members, the release stated.
Applications can be submitted online and will be reviewed by the fund team within 48 hours. Recommendations will then be submitted for approval to the NCSSA Board. Disbursement is expected to be sent within a week of submission, the release stated.
North Carolina was severely impacted by last month’s Hurricane Helene. The storm caused significant flooding and structural damage, particularly in the Asheville area and farther west toward Tennessee. Several self-storage facilities were affected.
The NCSSA is comprised of owners and operators. Membership also includes strategic partners that represent vendors who serve the industry, as well as individuals who are interested in getting involved.
