Laing Self Storage, which operates four facilities in New York, has become a major sponsor of Hockey 4 Hope, an annual charity hockey game that raises funds for The Constance Foundation to help those battling cancer. It’ll be held on March 15 at The Visions Veteran Memorial Arena in Binghamton, New York, according to a press release.
Established in 2010 in honor of Constance “Connie” Glauser, who died of breast cancer in 2006, Hockey 4 Hope features former collegiate players, retired professionals and amateur players from across the country. Past participants include retired National Hockey League players Chris Bala and Terry Ryan as well as professional skateboarder Mike Vallely, the release stated.
“Hockey 4 Hope is an incredible cause, and we are honored to be part of it,” said Brian Laing, president of Laing Self Storage. “We believe in the power of sports to bring people together and make a difference, and we’re excited to support an event that does just that.”
Laing Self Storage, part of the Laing family of companies based in Conklin, New York, traces its roots to Laing Industries, a truck- and trailer-repair company founded in 1970. It operates four facilities in Binghamton, Conklin, Endwell and Endicott, New York.
The Constance Foundation is a nonprofit fundraising and event-planning firm that raises money to help alleviate the financial burden associated with cancer treatment. In addition to Hockey 4 Hope, it also hosts Softball 4 Hope, an annual charity softball game played in Binghamton, New York.
