Great American Self Storage, which operates five facilities in five states, is celebrating the opening of its newest location in Mooresville, North Carolina, with a toy drive that’ll benefit Toys4WNC and provide support for children who were adversely affected by Helen Hurricane, which hit the state in late September. The company is hosting a community event at 119 Executive Center Place, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., according to a press release.

Attendees who donate an unwrapped toy will be entered into a drawing to win prizes such as a flat-screen TV. The grand opening will also include facility tours and refreshments, and the Mooresville Fire Department will have a fire truck on display.

Toys4WNC partnered with more than 100 companies in North and South Carolina to collect toys this month. The gifts will be delivered on Dec. 14 as part of the organization’s “Great Toy Convoy.” Escorted ride by the N.C. Highway State Patrol, the group will include vehicles of all types traveling from Lake Norman to the West Yancy Fire Department in Burnsville, North Carolina. “We’re thrilled to make our grand opening meaningful by supporting children impacted by Helene during the holiday season,” said Angelique Gentry, facility manager for the Mooresville property. “By partnering with the Great Toy Convoy, we're turning our celebration into an opportunity to give back.”
