Space Centre Storage has expanded its facility in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, by adding a second vehicle-storage lot comprising 157 spaces. The new stalls at 3150 Sexsmith Road, just off British Columbia Highway 97, are designed for all vehicle sizes, from standard to luxury RVs, according to a press release.
“We have seen a real increase in demand for RV storage that’s secure and paved, especially for the larger, luxury-style motorhomes and trailers,” said Yvonne Rogers, operations manager. “We already have an RV lot, but it’s always full.”
The paved parking area features angled stalls and wide aisles. The property also offers fresh water and a dump station. Users have the option to park their passenger vehicle in their stall when leaving the facility. Security measures include after-hours security patrols, fencing with razor wire, keypad entry and video cameras. “We know security is so important for our customers,” Rogers said. “They’re leaving a prized possession here, and they want to know it’s in good hands.”
Before designing the new lot, Space Centre conducted a customer-feedback survey. “We asked our customers what they wanted to see, and these are the items that were important to them,” Rogers said, adding the company has seen significant demand for RV storage in the last two years as Kelowna’s growing demographic of empty-nesters moves into the city. “These days, a lot of people live in strata units where there is no RV parking on site or the bylaws simply don’t allow RV parking on the street,” Rogers added. “Neighbors don’t always like seeing a big rig parked on their block, so this is an excellent opportunity for the empty-nesters.”
Founded in 1985, Space Centre Storage comprises nearly 350,000 square feet of storage space. In addition, the facility provides MI-BOX portable-storage containers, moving and packing supplies, and mailbox rentals. The company also offers commercial lease space, mini-warehousing, and forklift and load docks for its business customers.
