StoreLocal Corp., a co-op of private self-storage operators in Canada and the United States, has acquired online self-storage directories StorageFront.com and SelfStorageHounds.com from Red Nova Labs Inc. for an undisclosed amount. StoreLocal intends to invest in both websites to increase lead volume and improve the user experience. Self-storage operators who are current clients of the websites will continue to receive leads under their existing agreements, StoreLocal officials said in a press release.

“StoreLocal’s mission since the beginning has been to provide independent, privately owned store operators the same benefits and scale as the larger, publicly owned conglomerates,” said Lance Watkins, CEO of StoreLocal. “StorageFront is a fantastic opportunity for us to provide the industry an affordable alternative to performance-based, lead-aggregation sites.”

Red Nova Labs launched StorageFront in 2009 to provide storage operators with an online medium for advertising and lead generation. The website was part of the online-marketing support services offered through its wholly owned subsidiary StorageAhead. In 2011, it launched WebWorks, a Web-design and marketing service for larger operators, and last year released a cloud-based management-software suite called StorEDGE. The StorageFront transaction will enable Red Nova Labs to devote more resources to StorEDGE, according to the release.

Based in Kansas City, Red Nova Labs is a Web-development and marketing agency. The storEDGE platform provides operators with cloud-based tools to boost rentals, track leads and manage operations.

StoreLocal leverages the combined strength of its membership for services such as customer acquisition, financing, marketing and technology.
