Woodruff Storage of Lakeside in Midland, Georgia, was named the 2021 Facility of the Year by the Georgia Self Storage Association (GASSA). The three-story building at 6950 Ruffie Way is near Lakeside Village Apartments and neighboring retail. Developed by local company Woodruff Real Estate Services LLC, it comprises more than 100,800 square feet in 554 climate-controlled units, according to a press release.
“The Woodruff Company strives for excellence,” said Charles R. Sheffield, president and CEO Woodruff Real Estate. “It is a tradition that has been woven into the fabric of our company since 1916. The Woodruff name has been set apart by [the company’s] corporate values, good character and reputation for high-quality development in the Columbus, Georgia, region.”
Sheffield also credited the project’s success to the collaborative approach by Woodruff executives Tra Dykes, director of development, and Julie Quigley, vice president of development. He also made mention of the company’s vendor partners, including Atlanta-based construction firm Griffco Design/Build Inc. and Columbus-based designer Barnes Gibson Partners Architects LLC.
Woodruff Storage is managed by Absolute Storage Management, a self-storage management company that operates more than 140 facilities in 16 states.
Founded in 1992, GASSA is a nonprofit organization for self-storage professionals in the state of Georgia. Its 300 members include self-storage owners, managers, third-party operators and vendors representing more than 800 facilities.
Founded in 2017 and based in Columbus, Woodruff Real Estate is the operational arm of the George C. Woodruff Co., a full-service brokerage that serves Alabama, Florida and Georgia. It provides asset- and project-management as well as construction and development services, according to the company website.
