Self-Storage Firm IREGC Receives ‘Outstanding Large Business Award’ for York, PA, Contributions

The Investment Real Estate Group of Companies (IREGC), which specializes in self-storage brokerage, construction and management and operates the Moove In Self Storage brand, received the “Outstanding Large Business Award” in the 2024 Downtown First Awards from Downtown Inc., an organization that works to enhance and encourage investment in the central-business district of York, Pennsylvania. IREGC was recognized for its significant contributions to the city and its strong commitment to the community, according to a press release.

Now in its 24th year, the Downtown First Awards included eight categories. The winners were recognized at an awards ceremony on Aug. 8 at Keystone Kidspace children’s museum in York.

IREGC was celebrated for establishing its headquarters in a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum-certified historic building on North George Street. The company also supports the YWCA York Junior Board’s Adopt-A-Family program and provides volunteers for local playground builds. In honor of its own 25th anniversary, IREGC donated $25,000 to 25 York-based nonprofits in honor of its own 25th anniversary. It also contributes and hosts several downtown events annually, the release stated.

“Our commitment to downtown York is rooted in a belief that thriving communities are built through active participation and meaningful investments,” said Chris Riley Sr., president and chief operating officer at IREGC.

Through the Gilliland Family Foundation, founded by CEO John Gilliland and wife Denise, IREGC also invests in local initiatives like the York Revolution and the White Rose Impact Fund. “Revitalizing historic buildings and fostering new partnerships within York is a part of our business, but it’s also our passion,” Gilliland said. “We look forward to continuing to be a part of this vibrant community for years to come.”

Founded in 1998, York, Pennsylvania-based IREGC operates more than 80 self-storage facilities across the mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwest. The company also includes Investment Real Estate, a provider of brokerage, construction, development and management services to self-storage owners and investors.
