Self-Storage Among 10 Best Business Investments, Says Inc.com

Self-storage is among the 10 best businesses in which to invest this year, according to Inc.com. A recently published article on the website says now may be a good time to launch a new business, and some of the industries Inc. finds most promising are surprising. Self-storage was listed among options such as environmental consulting, mobile-application design, bakeries, ferryboats, online vintage-clothing stores and others.

The article provides detailed descriptions of each of the 10 businesses and explanations as to why they are on the list. Self-storage is considered a good candidate, according to Inc., because:

  • The industry is far from saturated, thanks to the insatiable appetite of Americana for acquiring and keeping “stuff.”

  • The sub-prime mortgage crisis wasn't particularly hard on the storage business.

  • The industry also has low barriers to entry.
