Buchanan's 'Encore for Education' Raises $100K for VH1 Save the Music Foundation

Buchanan Street Partners, a national real estate investment bank and the parent company of Buchanan Storage Capital, raised $100,000 for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation through its first annual "Encore for Education" charity concert, held June 7th at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. The fundraiser featured an exclusive performance by the Goo Goo Dolls, and proceeds from the event will help Los Angeles public schools purchase musical instruments.

We are very proud of this event. It supports the Los Angeles community in a very real and meaningful way, said Robert Brunswick, president and CEO of BSP. Studies show that children who take part in music education achieve better test scores and maintain better focus. Since a number of schools in L.A. have had to cut music programs because of financial restraints, we feel great that we are able to bring some of them back.

More than 500 real estate professionals attended the event, hosted by BSP and underwritten by Arden Realty, Bixby Land Co., CB Richard Ellis, LBA Realty and Maguire Properties Inc. The firm is already planning next year's fundraiser. Since its inception in 1997, VH1 Save the Music has dontated more than $30 million worth of new musical instruments to 1,200 public schools in 80 cities, improving the lives of more than 700,000 children. The program's many honors include the Governors Award (a special Emmy Award), the George Foster Peabody Award for broadcast and cable excellence, and many Beacon Awards. For details, visit www.vh1.com/partners/save_the_music.
