Hibernia Capital Advisors Opens Garfield Storage in Phoenix

Real estate firm Hibernia Capital Advisors LLC has opened Garfield Storage, a new self-storage facility in Phoenix. The property will be managed by Cox Armored Mini Storage, a self-storage management firm.

The facility at 1616 E. Portland St. comprises 85,000 rentable square feet rentable of storage space. Property features include keypad access, climate control and a conference room.

The site is in the Garfield Historic District, which covers one square mile of downtown Phoenix. The two neighborhoods, Garfield and North Garfield, were placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, according to the district’s website. The community is experiencing a revitalization and cultural expansion that’s being led by the Garfield Neighborhood Association; Local First Arizona, a nonprofit that supports local businesses; and Arizona State University (ASU), which has a downtown campus, according to a press release.

“We are very bullish on downtown. Having grown up in Phoenix, we hear about downtown revitalization most every real estate cycle; but with ASU’s commitment coupled with an emergent and vibrant creative class that vision has become a reality,” said Mark McLoone, managing partner of Hibernia.

Garfield Storage hosted an open house on March 4 that included refreshments from Welcome Chicken + Donuts and Songbird Coffee & Teahouse. Attendees included Phoenix Councilwoman Kate Gallego and Sharon Smith, dean of student affairs for the ASU downtown campus.

Based in Phoenix, Hibernia Capital is a private real estate investment company that identifies, acquires and asset-manages real estate.

Founded in 1995, Cox Armored manages 19 facilities in Arizona.
