England's U Hold the Key Self-Storage Chain Adds Facility, Eyes Expansion

Parsons Containers Ltd., a U.K.-based provider of portable-storage containers that also operates self-storage facilities under the U Hold The Key brand, has opened a new storage facility in Darlington, England. In addition to container storage, the company plans to offer café, retail and workshop outlets on the 5.2-acre property, according to the source. Parsons also intends to add facilities in Mainsforth and Sunderland, England, which will increase the number of containers it has in service from 1,000 to 1,500.

In the last year, the company has increased its staff from five to 22 employees and plans to add five more next year, the source reported. “This expansion is driven by the well-established success of our business model, which is based on delivering inexpensive, easily accessible and very flexible self-storage that is available 24 hours a day,” said Jane Skilbeck, general manager at U Hold The Key.

The company’s revenue has doubled in the last three years to £2.6 million. Its self-storage properties allow customers 24-hour access.

Founded in 2000, Parsons Containers is headquartered in Sedgefield, England. It operates nine U Hold The Key self-storage locations.
