Self-Storage Manager Robbed, Beaten by 2 Men in New Hyde Park, NY

A self-storage manager at Storage 1-2-3 Inc. in New Hyde Park, N.Y., was robbed and injured last week by two men who stole an undisclosed amount of cash. The two suspects entered the self-storage office at 119 S. 3rd St. on the evening of Sept. 6 and forced a female employee to take them to a cash register, according to police. After removing cash from the register, the men led the employee to a back office, where they struck her on the head with a handgun and stole her cellphone and wallet, a source reported.

Police released security video of the incident on Sunday. The footage shows the men confronting the female employee, who is seen later holding a bloody towel to her head, a source reported. The victim was treated at a local hospital. Authorities are hopeful the video will lead to arrests in the case.

One suspect is described as a black male between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, about 160 pounds, with a bald head and no facial hair. He was wearing a gray sweat suit with black-and-white basketball shoes. The second suspect is described as a black male between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, with short hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a black, short-sleeve T-shirt, black pants and black shoes.

The suspects were last seen on South 3rd Street, moving northbound on foot toward Jericho Turnpike.

Anyone with knowledge of the incident is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 800.244.TIPS.
