StorSmart Storage of Michigan Supports Victims of Domestic Violence

StorSmart Moving and Storage, which operates four facilities in Southwest Michigan, is partnering with Safe Shelter for Domestic Violence in Berrien County, Mich., to provide free self-storage and moving services to domestic-violence victims. The relocation service is designed to remove a key barrier to escape many victims face, Gil Logan, co-owner of StorSmart, told the source.

The new service provides users with professional movers and a storage unit to protect their belongings. More information can be obtained by contacting Child and Family Services of Southwest Michigan.

Safe Shelter provides a secure, violence-free environment for domestic violence and sexual-assault victims as well as their children. In addition to housing, the organization provides clothing, counseling, food and other resources.

StorSmart has two facilities in St. Joseph, Mich., and one each in Coloma and Stevensville, Mich. The properties include 24-hour access, climate-controlled and drive-up units, and outside vehicle storage. The company’s moving services also includes packing for an additional fee, according to its website.
