Phoenix-based U-Haul International Inc. is hosting a grand re-opening on April 7 to celebrate the expansion of its self-storage facility in Newnan, Ga. Public officials and the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

U-Haul Moving & Storage of Newnan at 3003 E. Highway 34 has added a new building featuring 498 interior storage units and a 5,000-square-foot showroom. Construction on the brick building was completed in 2015, according to a company press release.

U-Haul purchased the former Crossroads Mini Storage in 2011. The property sits on 12 acres and includes 17 buildings comprising 96,000 square feet of storage space. It contains 800 units, including 270 drive-up units and 15 vehicle-storage spaces.

The facility employees 12 people, including three new hires, the release stated. U-Haul plans to add more staff members as needed.

The property offers 24-hour access, hitch installation and towing equipment, moving and packing supplies, truck and trailer rentals, and U-Box portable-storage containers. It also features a U-Box storage warehouse as well as an unloading dock. Security features include individually alarmed units and video cameras.

U-Haul plans to add a canopy over the receiving and dispatch area as well as covered parking for vehicle storage. Propane sales will also be available soon.

"We're working to get support for plans that will deliver the level of convenience our customers have come to expect," said Chris Hill, general manager. "We're currently going through the process with Coweta County officials.”

Customers have “embraced” the facility expansion, said Jon Scoville, president of the U-Haul Co. of Western Georgia. "I believe in our effort to communicate how valuable the U-Haul fingerprint is to the long-term development of this growing community. We're proud to offer a great facility like this to serve our neighbors. This is something Newnan deserves."

Established in 1945, U-Haul has more than 44 million square feet of storage space at more than 1,200 owned facilities throughout North America.
