Public Storage Proposes Self-Storage Facility for West Palm Beach, FL

Public Storage Inc., a self-storage real estate investment trust (REIT), is seeking approval to build a new facility in West Palm Beach, Fla. Comac Waterford LLC, which owns the nearly 2-acre parcel at 1905 N. Jog Road, will appear before the county’s planning and zoning commission on March 24 with a proposal for the site, according to the source.

The plans include the construction of a three-story facility encompassing 128,139 square feet of storage space. It would also include a 3,600-square-foot retail building on a neighboring 0.36 acres, according to a source.

Urban Design Kilday Studios LLC has been hired as the planning firm, and Tao Architecture + Design will design the facility.

Comac Waterford is managed by Southern Storage Management Systems, a Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based self-storage acquisition company owned by Peter Cowie and Robert A. McIntosh.

Based in Glendale, Calif., Public Storage has interests in 2,277 self-storage facilities in 38 states, with approximately 148 million net rentable square feet. Operating under the Shurgard brand name, the company also has 217 facilities in seven European countries, with approximately 12 million net rentable square feet.
