UK Self-Storage Operator Safestore Names Liverpool, England, 'Most Generous City' in Kids Appeal Holiday Drive

Safestore, which operates more than 120 self-storage facilities in the United Kingdom, named Liverpool, England, as one of the most generous cities following the company’s annual Kids Appeal holiday drive. The operator invited the public to donate games, stationary and toys at Safestore and Space Maker facilities during November. The donations benefited Variety, the Children’s Charity, which supports disabled, disadvantaged and sick children in the U.K.

Company officials report the Liverpool facilities collected the most items. “We are delighted by the response to this appeal by our local community,” said Mark Ford, facility manager. “We collected lots of bags of great new toys including dinosaurs, craft sets and coloring books. It is great to see such generosity.”

Founded in 1949, Variety is known for its “Sunshine Coaches,” a program that caters to children with special needs. It also provides wheelchairs for children, and raises funds to pay for equipment for sick children who are cared for at home.

Safestore operates 123 self-storage facilities, including approximately 100 facilities it owns in the U.K. and 24 in France. The company also manages a dozen U.K. sites. Its wholly owned properties comprise more than 5 million square feet of storage space, while its entire portfolio serves approximately 48,000 customers.
