Mamaroneck, NY, Mayor Honors Owners of Mamaroneck Self Storage

Mamaroneck, N.Y., Mayor Norman Rosenblum and trustee Louis Santoro recently honored Chris and Sean Murphy, owners of Murphy Brothers Contracting and the newly opened Mamaroneck Self Storage in the village. The men were chosen as this year's honorees at the annual Mayor's Breakfast, hosted by the Village of Mamaroneck Republican Committee. The brothers were presented with a plaque proclaiming Nov. 1 as “Sean and Christopher Murphy Day.”

Each year, the committee recognizes people who’ve been vital components of the Mamaroneck Village community, according to a press release. During the breakfast, Mayor Rosenblum cited the Murphy Family’s involvement in the village, which spans generations.

“Sean and Chris Murphy are primary examples of those members of the community who offer business acumen and commitment to social endeavors to the benefit of all who work, live and visit the friendly village of Mamaroneck. It was my privilege to honor them on behalf of the [village], an honor well deserved,” Rosenblum said.

The Murphys opened Mamaroneck Self Storage last month. The property features a number of green initiatives, including DOW Powerhouse Solar Shingles, a combination of roof shingles and a solar-panel system. The facility is the first phase of the company’s plans to construct a larger storage property that will also house its offices, mill-shop and warehouse. The company is also working with the Westchester Green Business Challenge to become the program’s first green-certified self-storage facility in the county.

Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Mamaroneck, Murphy Brothers Contracting constructs and renovates custom homes and builds commercial projects in the Westchester Hudson Valley region and Fairfield County. It also owns Murphy Brothers Millworks.
