Metro Storage to Develop New Self-Storage Facility in Burnsville, MN

Metro Storage LLC, which operates the Metro Self Storage brand in 12 states, has acquired property in the Minneapolis suburb of Burnsville, Minn., on which it intends to develop a self-storage facility. Expected to open in spring 2016, the facility will be Metro’s seventh in the state.

The property at 2398 Egan Drive will include a three-story building encompassing 63,000 rentable square feet of climate-controlled storage as well as four single-story structures comprising 18,600 rentable square feet of drive-up space. It will offer a total of 775 storage units, a large office, an interior drive-thru and loading bays.

The new location is in a residential area near commercial and retail stores, according to a company press release. “Our acquisitions and development team did a great job of finding an excellent location for a new facility. It has all the things we look for to ensure success of the store,” said CEO Blair Nagel.

Headquartered in Lake Forest, Ill., Metro Storage is a privately owned, fully integrated real estate operating company specializing in the acquisition, development and management of self-storage facilities nationwide. It operates more than 100 self-storage properties in 12 states comprising more than 6.5 million square feet. The company also operates in Brazil under the MetroFit brand name.
