DBCI Doors for Self-Storage and Other Industries Receive Wind-Rated Approval From Texas Department of Insurance

DBCI, a manufacturer of self-storage roll-up doors and other building components, received wind-rated approval for several models of doors from the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), the agency that regulates companies that conduct insurance business in Texas. The approval concludes more than three years of extensive testing and review, covering DBCI’s standard sheet door as well as its patent-pending Curl-Lok door.

DBCI is now an accepted vendor in Florida and Texas, which have strict wind requirements in state building codes. Its wind-rated products include the 5000 Series severe-wind door, the 3000 Series moderate-to-heavy wind door, the 2500 Series heavy-duty door, the 690 Series wind-rated storage door, and the 650 Series standard storage door.

“We’ve always been proud of our top-quality wind-rated products, but now we can tell customers they’re all accepted by TDI. It may have taken a little longer to accomplish, but this certification covers our standard sheet doors as well as our Curl-Lok doors in the state of Texas,” said Bray Allen, research and development manager. Allen also oversaw the testing and application process.

DBCI designs and manufactures commercial-grade, steel roll-up doors as well as frames and panels, wall systems, interior-hallway systems, mezzanine systems, portable-storage units, and wine lockers. Headquartered in Douglasville, Ga., the company also operates production facilities in Chandler, Ariz., and Houston.
