Proposals Filed for 3 Separate Self-Storage Developments in Jefferson County, KY

Three separate proposals for self-storage development projects were filed in the past week to the Louisville Metro Department of Planning & Design Services in Jefferson County, Ky. Two would include office space.

Kern’s Self Storage filed an application to build a two-story office building and 123,000 square feet of storage and warehouse space at 6501 Geil Lane. The 10-acre site is south of Fern Valley Road and west of Jefferson Boulevard. The proposal calls for 20 buildings in a range of sizes, with at least one comprising 13,000 square feet of space. Stephen Cherry, a project manager with Lexington, Ky.-based architecture firm Murphy + Graves + Trimble PLLC, filed the application, the source reported.

Another project, proposed by Gregory Oakley, will include just over 150,000 square feet of storage space in five buildings. The 17-acre site at 2600 Tucker Station Road is near Chestnut Station Court in the Blankenbaker Station Business Park. The storage facility will be built in two phases, according to the source.

Developer Clay Manley is seeking a zoning change for property he owns at 500 N. English Station Road, which is currently zoned for single-family residences. Manley is requesting a change to commercial zoning so he can build a small office building and 100 storage units, the source reported.

All of the plans will be reviewed by the Metro Planning Commission or one of its committees as well as county staff and other agencies.
