Edwards, CO, to Get Its First Self-Storage Facility

Real estate developers Brad and Bruce Hagedorn received approval to build a 65,000-square-foot self-storage facility in Edwards, Colo.—the first in the city, according to the source. The project is expected to break ground this fall and open in late 2015 or early 2016. Once built, it will be managed by CubeSmart, a self-storage real estate investment trust.

The facility’s design will complement the existing community, the source reported. The buildings will be sunk into grade to reduce their apparent mass, and the façades will be constructed of earth-toned materials including glass, faux stone, painted steel and timbers. A portion of the open space at the rear of the parcel will be dedicated as a wildlife-migration corridor. The developers also plan to build a pedestrian pathway along U.S. Highway 6.

Property features will include a variety of unit sizes, some climate-controlled spaces, keypad entry and video cameras. The office will be open daily.

Brad Hagedorn, owner of ArcWest Properties in Denver, and Bruce Hagedorn, owner of Winds West Inc. in Eagle, Colo., are also developing 12 single-family residences in the Buckhorn Valley neighborhood in Gypsum, Colo., the source reported.

CubeSmart owns or manages 611 self-storage facilities across the United States and operates the CubeSmart Network, which consists of more than 800 additional self-storage facilities.
