Self-Storage Development Proposal Rejected in Greenwood, IN

Officials in Greenwood, Ind., this week rejected a proposal to build a self-storage facility near the intersection of Stones Crossing Road and State Road 135. The city has 50 undeveloped acres near the intersection, which officials believe could become a new gateway into town; but city council members said they didn’t favor building self-storage facilities at any main intersection, according to the source.

Greenwood annexed the land at the intersection in 2011. A developer has had recent discussions with officials about the types of developments that would be suitable for the area. The self-storage proposal would have set the facility back from Stones Crossing Road and left room for another business to be built in front, the source reported.
