New RV-Storage Facility Proposed for Palm Springs, CA

An RV-storage facility has been proposed for an empty 4.8-acre lot near Palm Springs Airport Self Storage in Palm Springs, Calif. Ariel Valli, president and principal architect of Valli Architectural Group, recently presented the project to the city’s Architectural Advisory Committee. The members have asked him to refine and resubmit plans for the development’s landscaping and building elevations.

The site is on a desert parcel south of Palm Springs International Airport on Airport Center Drive. The new project would include an 118,726-square-foot RV-storage facility as well as a mini-warehouse and office space. About 85 percent of the facility would be designed to house 50 RVs ranging in size from 40 to 45 feet, Valli told the source.

“There’s a big demand for this sort of thing. There aren’t that many storage areas for this size of RV in the area,” Valli said.

Committee members agreed they’d like to see a project that shows creativity in its landscape design, since the building would be large and lack windows. “I think it could really unify it and play off the style of the architecture,” committee member Randy Purnel said of the landscape design.

Founded in 1997, Valli Architectural Group provides specialized design services to the self-storage industry.
