Self-Storage Developers Receive Initial Zoning Approval for Facility in Stevensville, MI

Self-storage developers Rick Heckathorn and Jerrold Wojahn of Additional Storage Space in Baroda, Mich., received initial zoning approval on Feb. 10 from the Lincoln Township Board to build a self-storage facility in Stevensville, Mich. The property on the corner of John Beers Road and Lincoln Avenue is currently zoned for agriculture use. The storage project was originally proposed for the northwest corner of the intersection, but the plan was later revised, township supervisor Dick Stauffer told the source.

The board unanimously agreed to move forward with the zoning process following a recommendation by the Lincoln Township Planning Commission. The commission held a public hearing on May 5, 2014, but took no action on at the time. Members asked Wojahn for more details on how the developers will buffer the site from neighbors, the source reported.

Final zoning consent will be contingent on the commission’s site-plan approval, Stauffer said. The board will revisit the zoning request at its March 10 meeting, the source reported.
