Self-Storage Marketplace SpareFoot Hires VP of Client Services

SpareFoot, an online marketplace for self-storage consumers, has hired Charles Marriott for the newly created position of vice president of client services. Marriott has more than 10 years of experience in client services, business operation and public companies, according to the “The SpareFoot Blog.”

“Charlie brings a wealth of relevant experience and knowledge to our team,” said Chuck Gordon, co-founder and CEO of SpareFoot. “I’m eager to work with him as we continue to improve SpareFoot’s client experience for storage owners and operators.”

Marriott most recently served as vice president of worldwide client services at Austin, Texas-based Bazaarvoice, a network that connects brands and retailers with consumers. He joined the company in 2007 and helped it grow through an initial public offering in 2012 and several acquisitions, according to the source. Marriott also previously led sales and operations teams for Dell Inc. in Round Rock, Texas.

“SpareFoot is a fast-growing company that is a game changer in the fragmented, continually expanding self-storage market,” Marriott said. “I’m excited about being part of this change and working alongside Chuck and the rest of the SpareFoot team to grow and scale the company even more.”

Founded in 2008, SpareFoot.com helps consumers find and reserve self-storage units, with comparison shopping tools that show real-time availability and exclusive deals. Since its launch, the company has raised $26 million in venture capital. With a network of more than 7,000 storage facilities ranging from mom-and-pop operations to real estate investment trusts, the company reaches prospective storage renters though partnerships with brands including SelfStorage.com and Penske Truck Rental.
