U.K. self-storage operator Big Yellow Group PLC is a financial supporter for Go Dad Run, a series of 5K running events benefiting Prostate Cancer UK, an organization dedicated to funding research and raising awareness. The event will kickoff in Cardiff, Wales, on June 14, with two additional races on Father’s Day, June 15, in Birmingham, England, and London.
Go Dad Run was founded by Welshman Colin Jackson, a former sprinter and hurdler, who lost two uncles to prostate cancer. Jackson and Olympic sprinter Jamie Baulch will take part in the Cardiff event. Former swimming world champion Mark Foster will participate in London.
Baulch recently visited Big Yellow’s Cardiff self-storage facility and posed for photos with company officials wearing the event’s signature yellow underwear. The visit was part of a Go Dad Run bus tour promoting the event. Each entrant receives a pair of the underwear and is encouraged to wear them on race day.
The Go Dad Run races are open to males at least 14 years old. Organizers said they plan to donate at least £2 per entrant to Prostate Cancer UK.
Big Yellow Group operates 77 self-storage locations in the United Kingdom under the Big Yellow Self Storage and Armadillo Self Storage brand names, with most concentrated in Greater London. The portfolio comprises 4.6 million square feet.
