Cushman & Wakefield Releases State of the Market Self-Storage Webinar

Commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) recently hosted a free webinar examining real estate market trends and factors impacting property values in the self-storage sector. The event was part of the companys Quarterly State of the Market series and presented by C&Ws Valuation & Advisory Division. The one-hour webinar includes an overview of real estate capital markets and self-storage data, including industry-performance metrics compared to other real estate investment trust (REIT) property sectors, investment trends, and first-quarter facility-performance data from a national sample of operators as well as the REITs. It also includes historical perspective of the Self Storage Performance Index, construction trends, property sales and capitalization rates tracked by C&Ws Self Storage Industry Group (SSIG).

The webinar also includes commentary from Chris Sonne, executive managing director of the Valuation & Advisory Division; Janice Stanton, senior managing director, capital markets; and Greg Wells, director, capital markets.

Valuation & Advisory also recently released a companion business brief titled Moving With Confidence in Self-Storage, which can be downloaded for free on the Inside Self-Storage (ISS) website. The eight-page report discusses interest-rate volatility and summarizes data from the Summer 2013 PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) Real Estate Investor Survey, for the domestic self-storage market. It also includes the results of an expanded survey, which examines market optimism, absorption time and other elements that characterize the current market conditions for the self-storage asset class.
