TaxiBox, a mobile self-storage operator based in Melbourne, Australia, is expanding its services into the Sydney market. The move is the first phase of an aggressive strategy to expand nationally, company officials said.

Started in August 2010, TaxiBox handles more than 50 deliveries of its mobile units in the Melbourne area every day and believes it can duplicate its success in a city that bills itself as Australia’s business capital.

“Mobile self-storage simply takes the hassle out of moving and storing. TaxiBox customers enjoy the benefits that come with no driving, no unloading and no double-handling of belongings,” said co-founder Jeremy Rosen. “Unlike many other traditional storage options, our service also includes no long-term lock-in contracts, free TaxiBox delivery and free access to items throughout the full storage term. We have found this to be a huge hit with our Melbourne customers and are extremely excited about replicating our successes in Sydney."

TaxiBox is noted for the taxi motif the company uses on its trucks and storage pods that draws the attention of prospective clients while servicing paying customers. Units are wrapped in bright-yellow covers that feature black-and-white checkered striping synonymous with yellow taxi cabs. The covers also feature the company’s marketing slogan in a graphical display: “We Deliver, You Pack, We Store.”
