Compass Self Storage, a self-storage operator with facilities in eight states, will hold its second-annual Storage Warz charity event this month at two locations in the Detroit area. The events will feature live auctions for prizes in select storage units, as well as live entertainment, food, a 50/50 raffle, a drawing for a Kindle Fire, and a prize wheel.

The auction prizes will be in five storage units. Items include a new La-Z-Boy recliner, hotel-night stays, movie passes, restaurant gift certificates and more. Local business sponsors donated the prizes. All proceeds from the events will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The first event is scheduled today, 5:30-8 p.m. at 32000 John R Road in Madison Heights, Mich. It will be held in conjunction with the Madison Heights/Hazel Park Chamber of Commerce.

The second event is scheduled for Sept. 14, 5:30-8 p.m. at 40900 Grand River Ave. in Novi, Mich. It will be held in conjunction with the Stephen's Soldiers Foundation, a charitable organization that provides funds for cancer research, awareness and education.

"We are excited to repeat this event this year and expand it to a second location," said Sean Bentley, district manager. "We hope the community will come out and support this great event that benefits an important cause."

Headquartered in Cleveland, the Amsdell Cos. draws its roots from the family-owned construction company founded in 1928.
