Delinquencies, collections and lien sales are critical elements in the operation of a self-storage business. On June 27, self-storage industry expert Tom Litton will conduct a two-hour online workshop titled, “Finding Your Customers, Collecting Your Money, Conducting Better Auctions,” which will provide tools and tips for managing these processes effectively and efficiently.
The first hour, focused on managing delinquencies, will share innovative ways to get self-storage customers to pay rent. Litton will discuss 10 collection strategies, including how to use the Internet to provide low-cost rent reminders. He'll also address ways to find customers who have "disappeared."
Hour two will focus on lien sales. Litton will talk about whether a self-storage operator should hire an auctioneer, how to draw a crowd, websites that advertise self-storage auctions, and how to get better sale prices. He'll also share how to maintain proper lien-sale files in case a facility operator is sued as a result of a sale.
The cost to attend the live workshop is $49.95. Registration can be completed online at MiniStorageMessenger.com.
